a quilt for Tomma

Tomma,  our new little German "grand-daughter," was born January 23rd. Her mom, Sylvia, lived with us the first year we lived on Grande Avenue, twenty years ago. When I learned of this baby's pending arrival I got to work preparing a special way to say "Welcome to life, little one!"

After finishing and sending it off, I received a wonderful phone call, where I was beautifully thanked and caught up on the recent details of Tomma's little life. Conversation with her dad and warm remembering with her mom led me to a heart full of gratitude for the joy of opportunities for such meaningful relationships.

Soon the photos arrived of little Tomma enjoying the quilt with sweet happy smiles.

2014-07-14_0003Tomma, I look forward to meeting you one day. Stay warm and grow up strong and happy. Breathe deep of the glad air and live one day at a time. Know that you are precious.*

God has made you beautifully and your mom is really special to us. Welcome to life! We pray for you here in America.
