He who dwells in the shelter of the most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust."
He will cover you with his feathers,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
Psalm 91:1,2 and 4
On days of sorrow, Father God, I choose to scrunch myself up into the safety of your shadow. The angry winds blow and beat against my sense of security so I decide to step into the protection you freely offer. With your feathers as covering and your wings as refuge I can trust you and your faithfulness to be my strength. You have much to do in and through me and I cannot let fear take me out. You and you alone can save me from that which seeks to devour. Jesus told us, "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life and have it to the full." So I rest here, nestled in under your wing, close to your heart, where I can hear your voice, feel your warmth and be safe from the arrows.
